Broker transparency

CoveredNYC should make it easy for visitors to understand who we are, what we can do, what we cannot do, and which official sources remain available.

Say clearly

  • CoveredNYC is independent
  • CoveredNYC is not NY State of Health or the government
  • Broker help depends on active licensing, certification, and appointments
  • We aim to offer as many insurance companies and coverage paths as appointments/relationships allow, but we may not represent every plan or carrier unless documented

Before launch

  • Add DFS license number/status
  • Add entity or trade-name status if needed
  • Add NY State of Health certification status
  • Add carrier/general agency appointment status and a plain-language list of carriers/products CoveredNYC can review
  • Add compensation disclosures where required

Why this matters

Clear disclosures build trust and reduce regulatory risk while still allowing CoveredNYC to be warmer and easier to use than official government pages.

Plan choice promise

CoveredNYC should say “best-fit available plans” rather than “the best plan” and should disclose appointment limits. The user should understand when official NY State of Health or a carrier direct path may show additional options.
